About the opportunity
We are looking for 2 experienced Security Officers to join our Building Construction and Maintenance section on a permanent, full-time basis.
Our Security team is responsible for our physical and electronic security across all sites. This includes the network of cameras, access control, alarms, and emergency buttons located throughout our buildings. This role provides a prompt and professional response, ensuring all threats to the safety/security of staff, contractors, visitors, and members of the public and property are proactively mitigated.
Ideal candidates will have excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail. You will be vigilant and proactive, have a professional presentation and demeanour, display a strong customer service focus, and have the ability to manage high-pressure incidents/situations.
To be successful in this role, you must be available to work mornings, afternoons, and nights and have 24/7 availability as required.
Qualifications and experience
Essential:
- Certificate II in Security Operations
- Current NSW Security licence Class 1A Minimum
- Current class C driver's licence
- Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Current White Card (or willing to obtain)
- Current Traffic Control and Implement Traffic Management Plan certificates (or willing to obtain)
- Computer literacy in basic Microsoft Office applications and the ability to quickly learn corporate applications
- Experience in monitoring facility alarms and security systems, security portal resets, duress alarms, and using Access Control System and Visitor Management Systems
- Investigating and responding to alarms
- Sound knowledge of applicable legislation
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems and utilise critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Desirable:
- Certificate III in Security Operations.
- Previous government or local government security experience
- Understanding of Security Risk Management and/or Threat Assessments.
Remuneration and benefits
The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
- Entry level for this position starts at $1,362.15 per week
- 40-hour working week
- Rostered Day Off (RDO) every month
