About the opportunity

We're excited to be rolling out a brand new food and garden waste service, and we’re looking for 2 x Customer Service Officers to join our team on a casual basis to help our community make a smooth transition. 

In this role, you will support residents by responding to enquiries across phone, email, SMS and our new chat function, providing clear guidance, resolving concerns, and helping people feel confident with the new service. You will be part of a friendly, fast‑paced team committed to delivering great customer experiences. With Council’s operating hours running from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, your shifts will vary based on operational needs.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Relevant qualifications in an appropriate field and/or relevant experience
  • A minimum of twelve (12) months’ work experience in a similar role
  • Customer service experience in either telephone, email or face to face enquiries
  • Experience in computer applications.
  • Availability to work flexible working hours
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service.

Desirable: 

  • Previous experience in Local Government.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $37.5914 per hour, plus 25% casual loading 
  • Casual working hours 
  • Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 12% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
