About the opportunity

This is an exciting permanent, full-time opportunity for a motivated professional to play a key role in supporting the delivery of high quality, efficient, and effective secretariat services within our Executive Secretariat section. 

You will contribute to the smooth operation of a fast‑paced, high‑profile area while providing exceptional support across a range of executive activities. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Assisting with the setup of Chambers and Committee rooms (seating, AV/webcasting systems) to meet legislative requirements
  • Assisting in the preparation of the material (agendas, business papers, minutes, and related content) for publication on Council’s website
  • Supporting the ongoing use and development of the electronic business-paper system and report templates in line with the corporate writing style guide
  • Coordinating with IT, any works required to be carried out by contractors in relation to the audiovisual/webcasting equipment in the Chamber or Committee rooms in respect to Council meetings.

The role requires availability for after‑hours work on weekdays, with occasional weekend commitments to support operational needs. 

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Minimum of a diploma qualification in Business Administration, Local Government, or a related field
  • Solid experience in secretarial and administrative functions within local government
  • Extensive minute-taking experience
  • High level of oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of applicable local government legislation and regulations
  • Availability to work flexible hours
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service
  • Current class C driver's licence.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $2,078.51 per week
  • 35-hour working week 
  • Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
