About the opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, talented and capable accounting expert to join us as the Senior Coordinator Financial Planning on a permanent, full-time basis.

As Senior Coordinator Financial Planning, you will:

  • take a strategic approach to the financial sustainability and operational financial management of the organisation
  • develop smart, sustainable budgets and drive cost-effective solutions
  • work alongside senior leaders to shape economic and infrastructure growth
  • leverage technology to modernise financial systems and reporting
  • ensure compliance while finding innovative funding solutions
  • assist to build and mentor a high-performing finance team. 

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Degree qualifications in accounting or a business-related discipline
  • Qualification as a Certified Practising Accountant or Chartered Accountant
  • In-depth experience with financial accounting systems
  • Attention to detail and ownership of the financial aspects of the long-term financial plan, annual budgets and quarterly reviews
  • Proven experience in leading and mentoring a professional team to meet their objectives in a financial environment and the ability to motivate key stakeholders into achieving corporate financial objectives
  • Highly developed ability to negotiate and influence at senior levels of Council to ensure financial objectives are met
  • Current class C driver's licence.

Desirable: 

  • Local Government experience in a Finance team
  • Thorough working knowledge of relevant provisions of the Local Government Act and other appropriate legislation.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $2,735.37 per week
  • 35-hour working week
