About the opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Aquatic Ecosystem Regenerator to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis, with a strong focus on the maintenance and rehabilitation of aquatic ecosystems and Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) assets.
In this role, you will undertake a diverse range of activities to ensure WSUD assets, natural waterways, and surrounding landscapes are maintained to a high standard, contributing to the protection and enhancement of our local environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparation and ongoing maintenance of WSUD assets, gardens, riparian zones, and natural areas in accordance with required standards
- Demonstrated knowledge of a wide range of plant types, including annual, exotic, and native species
- Safe, efficient, and effective use of all tools, plant, and equipment
- Undertaking revegetation works in line with established programs and directions, using recognised conservation and horticultural management practices.
Qualifications and experience
Essential:
- Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management, Horticulture or equivalent
- Some experience in maintenance of WSUD assets, gardens and natural areas
- Chemical Application AQF3 or equivalent
- Current class C driver’s licence.
Desirable:
- Current class MR driver’s licence
- Chainsaw operation certificate of competence
- Traffic Controller Implementation accreditation
- First Aid certificate
- Bush regeneration experience.
Remuneration and benefits
The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
- Entry level for this position starts at $1,362.15 per week
- 38-hour working week
- Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
