Clerical Officer

Job No: BC3614
Location: Blacktown, NSW

Lead with purpose. Shape progress for a growing city.

Help shape the growth of one of Australia's fastest growing cities by supporting the planning and development process from the front line. Each day, you assist residents, applicants, consultants and Council staff with development enquiries, helping applications progress through the NSW Planning Portal and providing accurate information when it matters most.

As a Clerical Officer in the Development Assessment team, you process development applications, building-related certificates and planning documentation. You update records in Council systems, prepare and distribute correspondence, process mail, organise fee adjustments and ensure documentation is completed accurately and on time.

You also answer enquiries, check application information, prepare files, book inspections and assist staff by maintaining accurate records across a busy, high-volume service area. Success in this role comes from staying organised, managing competing priorities and maintaining a strong focus on customer service and attention to detail.

Your work helps development applications and planning enquiries progress efficiently, supporting residents, developers and the wider community. This is a great opportunity to build your knowledge of planning and development processes, work alongside experienced professionals and contribute to outcomes that help shape the future of Blacktown City.

At Blacktown City Council, good people make great teams – and great teams build great cities. Here, you will find the stability and support to keep growing, along with:

  • a term contract, part-time role for up to 12 months with one of Australia's largest councils
  • an entry level salary commencing at $1,315.70 per week, pro-rata
  • a 23-hour working week
  • 12% superannuation and competitive leave entitlements
  • ongoing training and development support
  • access to Fitness Passport, social clubs and wellbeing programs.

Blacktown City Council is committed to safety. We have introduced alcohol and other drug testing at the pre-employment phase, and via a series of random and cause testing.

We are a child safe organisation that supports and promotes the safety, wellbeing and empowerment of children.
