Building Contracts Officer

Job No: BC3689
Location: Blacktown, NSW

Work that matters, done with people who care

Help keep the buildings and facilities our community relies on safe, compliant and ready for use every day. You support community centres, libraries, sporting facilities and other Council buildings by managing the contracts and maintenance programs that keep essential safety systems operating properly.

As a Building Contracts Officer, you manage contracts for fire protection systems, pest control, defibrillators and emergency evacuation plans across Council facilities. You coordinate contractors, inspect completed works, review compliance requirements, maintain accurate records and ensure Annual Fire Safety Statements are completed on time. You also monitor budgets, assess payment claims, update corporate systems and work with contractors to meet work health and safety obligations.

The work is practical and varied. On any given day, you inspect maintenance works, arrange contractor services, review fire safety documentation, resolve compliance issues or liaise with government agencies and facility users. The work you do helps keep Council buildings safe, supports service delivery and ensures facilities remain open and available for the community.

Our trades and maintenance teams keep the city moving. You work alongside people who take pride in doing the job properly and supporting each other. We invest in your development through ongoing learning, training and opportunities to build your contract management skills while contributing to a city that continues to grow.

At Blacktown City Council, good people make great teams, and great teams build great cities. Here, you will find the stability and support to keep growing, along with:

  • a secure, permanent, full-time role with one of Australia's largest councils
  • an entry level salary commencing at $2,015.49 per week
  • a 35-hour working week
  • a car allowance
  • access to Council's flextime arrangement
  • 12% superannuation and competitive leave entitlements
  • ongoing training and development support
  • access to Fitness Passport, social clubs and wellbeing programs.

We are a child safe organisation that supports and promotes the safety, wellbeing and empowerment of children.
