Cyber Security Coordinator

Job No: BC3691
Location: Blacktown, NSW

Lead with purpose. Shape progress for a growing city.

As Cyber Security Coordinator, you help protect Council’s systems, networks, information and devices from cyber threats. You lead the implementation of Council’s Cyber Security Strategy, develop the Cyber Security Framework, and work across Council to reduce risk, strengthen security controls and improve cyber resilience. You partner with business units, executives and technical specialists to ensure security and compliance are built into technology projects and organisational change.

This is a hands-on role with a mix of strategic and operational work. You assess vulnerabilities, conduct risk assessments, develop mitigation plans and oversee security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems and antivirus software. You manage cyber incidents, coordinate response activities, conduct forensic analysis and report risks and emerging threats to management.

You also lead compliance activities, support disaster recovery and business continuity planning, and work with stakeholders to manage risks associated with new technologies and business processes. A key part of the role is delivering security awareness and training programs that help employees, contractors and partners make informed decisions and work securely.

You thrive in this role if you enjoy solving complex problems, managing competing priorities and staying ahead of emerging threats. You bring strong cyber security knowledge, sound judgement and the ability to explain technical information in plain English while building strong relationships across Council.

Enjoy career development opportunities, stable employment and flexible work arrangements within one of NSW’s most progressive councils.

At Blacktown City Council, good people make great teams, and great teams build great cities. Here, you will find the stability and support to keep growing, along with:

  • a secure, permanent, full-time role with one of Australia's largest councils
  • a 35-hour working week
  • access to Council's flextime arrangement
