Mechanical Apprentice Master and Quality Officer

Job No: BC3732
Location: Blacktown, NSW

Work that matters, done with people who care

Keep Blacktown City moving while shaping the next generation of Heavy Vehicle Mechanics.

As a Mechanical Apprentice Master and Quality Officer, you work in City Fleet's workshop maintaining trucks, plant and specialised equipment that support essential Council services. You diagnose faults, service and repair vehicles, carry out quality inspections and make sure work meets safety, manufacturer and regulatory standards. At the same time, you lead the day to day training and development of apprentice mechanics.

You coach apprentices through practical workshop tasks, assess their skills, provide feedback and help them build the knowledge needed to complete their trade. You identify skill gaps, organise hands on training, monitor progress and maintain training and compliance records. You also conduct workshop audits, promote safe work practices and contribute to continuous improvements that support quality and efficiency.

Every day, your work helps keep Council's fleet safe, reliable and ready for service across Blacktown City. Just as importantly, you help develop the skilled workforce needed to support our growing community into the future. Our Trades and Maintenance teams take pride in practical work that delivers real outcomes. We offer secure employment, ongoing training and opportunities to build your skills and share your expertise with others.

If you're an experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic who enjoys mentoring apprentices, leading by example and taking pride in quality workmanship, this role offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact.

At Blacktown City Council, good people make great teams, and great teams build great cities. Here, you will find the stability and support to keep growing, along with:

  • a secure, permanent, full-time role with one of Australia's largest councils
  • an entry level salary commencing at $1,566.66 per week, plus an additional 21.8% in accordance with Council’s Workshop Flexibility Agreement
  • a 38-hour working week
  • a Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
  • 12% superannuation and competitive leave entitlements
  • ongoing training and development support
  • access to Fitness Passport, social clubs and wellbeing programs.

We are a child safe organisation that supports and promotes the safety, wellbeing and empowerment of children.
