About The Opportunity

As a Labourer in our Water Services branch, you will become an integral part of our multi-disciplined crew responsible for various maintenance, repair, and construction activities, as well as operating light mechanical plant within Water Services facilities and reticulation infrastructure.  This role ensures a safe, efficient, and responsive 24/7 service to our customers.

Your responsibilities will include maintenance and construction tasks such as manual handling, pipe laying, concrete finishing, working with mobile plant, live sewer, roads, confined spaces, and chlorine systems. Additionally, the position involves performing mowing operations during designated seasons. The role also requires understanding reticulation drawings, operating and maintaining equipment, participating in after-hours work, providing on-call support, and adhering to safety and environmental practices. 

About You

  • Possession of (or obtain within 10 weeks from commencement) a current Class ‘MR’ Drivers Licence is essential.
  • Verification of skills to operate light mechanical equipment as per Queensland Local Government Industry Award.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Possession of (or ability to obtain) Traffic Management Implementation.
  • Possession of (or ability to obtain) a Current Construction Induction (White/Blue Card).

Desired

  • Knowledge and experience in construction and maintenance within the water services industry or similar field.
  • Relevant Water Industry training.
  • Basic computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office and Council applications
