About The Opportunity

As a Regulatory Services Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring public safety and compliance within the Bundaberg Region. This dynamic role combines educational outreach and enforcement to protect and enhance the community's health, amenity, and safety standards.  

The role will provide a great balance of office based and outdoor tasks that will include; 

  • Discussions, investigations and negotiations with the public.
  • Ensuring the community understands and complies with Local Laws and State Legislation.
  • Conducting scheduled inspections of regulated animals.
  • Daily patrols for local law and animal related regulations.
  • Undertaking rigorous and detailed investigations of alleged offences and implement correct regulatory action (e.g. warnings, infringements, enforcement notices, impoundment, etc.).
  • Once fully trained you will be included in an 'on-call' roster for after hours and weekends.

About You

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in investigating and enforcing local government legislation related to animal management and local laws.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of animal management and animal husbandry including cattery and kennel maintenance, disease control and animal hygiene.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to effectively negotiate conflict along with excellent written communication skills allowing accurate recording of investigative notes.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt and utilise various computer operational skills and knowledge including the use of electronic infringement software, mobile devices and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively both on your own, with a partner and within a team environment.
  • Availability to work outside normal operating hours and in accordance with the section’s roster.
  • Ability to undertake manual handling duties.
  • Hold a ‘C’ Class driver’s licence.
