Position Overview
The Strategic Planner is a Permanent Full-Time role within the Land Use Planning and Policy branch of the Regional Growth and Development Department. This position is crucial for providing planning support to Council’s strategic land use planning program, ensuring that Council’s statutory land use planning instruments align with community expectations and strategic outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and coordinate strategic planning projects, studies, and research to enhance land use planning and policy development.
- Prepare amendments to the Bundaberg Regional Council Planning Scheme and contribute to other strategic plans and guidelines.
- Review and maintain Council’s planning instruments and undertake necessary administrative functions under the Planning Act 2016.
- Consult with Council and stakeholders on strategic planning issues and represent Council’s interests in relevant forums.
- Provide strategic and policy advice on planning applications and land use proposals.
- Compile professional planning reports for Council and stakeholder review.
- Perform other strategic planning tasks as required, including support during staff absences.

About You
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in urban and regional planning, with a focus on strategic planning and policy development.
- Tertiary Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or a related field.
- Full membership of the Planning Institute of Australia; Registered Planner status is highly desirable.
- Current Drivers Licence.
- Desired: Experience in local government planning or development assessment teams.
- Desired: Proven experience in strategic planning and planning scheme drafting.
