About The Opportunity

This position plays a key role in maintaining and enhancing the presentation and functionality of various Council community facilities. A significant focus of the role is supporting operations at the Bundaberg Recreational Precinct, where you will be responsible for operating a range of plant equipment and undertaking minor maintenance on facilities and associated infrastructure. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in their work and is committed to supporting well-maintained, safe, and welcoming community spaces.

About You

  • Provision of a satisfactory Criminal History Check – Police Certificate (Australia wide – name only)
  • Qualifications for operating vehicles and relevant item/s of plant; including possession of current Driver’s Licence Class ‘C’; (Special Vehicle endorsement - Class ‘UD’ & Class ‘MR’ or ‘HR’ is desirable).
  • Construction Industry General Safety Induction (White Card).
  • Demonstrated very high level of experience in the operation and basic maintenance of relevant item/s of plant.
  • A very high-level knowledge of relevant processes and procedures including Workplace Health and Safety obligations.
  • Demonstrated very high level of knowledge and experience in maintenance and improvement of natural environments, landscape and horticultural environments; (a Certificate II or higher in a Horticultural related field, a Chainsaw Ticket and Herbicide Operator Ticket (AC/DC) is desirable).
  • Demonstrated very high level of ability to perform a wide range of labouring, gardening, cleaning, improvement, maintenance and repair activities within the natural and built environments
  • Demonstrated very high level of ability to work effectively under limited supervision ensuring that outcomes are achieved.
  • Demonstrated high level of good verbal communication skills.
  • Certificate II or higher in Horticultural related field desirable.
  • A chainsaw ticket desirable. 
  • Herbicide operator ticket (AC/DC) desirable. 
  • Special Vehicle Endorsement – Class ‘UD’ & Class ‘MR’ or ‘HR’ desirable.
