About The Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Treatment Plant Operator to join our Water Services Team.

In this role, you will operate, maintain, and monitor the performance of Council’s water and wastewater treatment plants to ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards. You will play an important part in safeguarding the health of our community by ensuring the reliable delivery of clean water and the effective treatment of wastewater.

This position is based at the East Operations Depot and may involve shift work, on-call duties, and occasional assistance at other treatment sites across the region.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Certificate III in Water Industry Operations, with dual qualifications in Water and Wastewater Treatment Operations, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrated ability and verified skills to operate light and medium mechanical equipment used in the operation and maintenance of treatment plant assets, in accordance with the Queensland Local Government Industry Award (Stream B).
  • Proven knowledge and experience in operating treatment plant equipment and automated processes, including treatment plant monitoring instruments, laboratory testing, and equipment calibration.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate and monitor SCADA and process control systems.
  • Sound working knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, guidelines, and codes related to the provision of water and wastewater services.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under remote supervision and provide guidance or direction to other employees when required.
  • Basic computer literacy, including experience using Microsoft Office and other industry or Council-specific software.
  • A current Class C Driver Licence.
