About The Opportunity
The role of a Local Laws Compliance officer is to protect and improve the amenity, safety and well-being of the Bundaberg Region community, through investigation, inspection, monitoring, consultation and enforcement of Council’s Local Laws and relevant State legislation including animal management.
If you enjoy a mix of working outdoors and in the office, engaging with people from all backgrounds and problem solving on your feet to achieve positive results then this position offers you plenty of opportunity to work in a role with purpose.
About You
Mandatory:
- Current ‘C’ class driver’s licence.
- Strong communication, conflict de-escalation and resolution skills, professional approach with members of the public.
- Demonstrated computer operational skills and knowledge including (ability to learn) the use of electronic infringement software, mobile enforcement Systems and Microsoft suite.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in conducting an investigation and enforcement of Local Government legislation in particular to Animal Management and Local Laws.
- Physical capability to undertake manual handling duties.
- knowledge and experience of animal management, animal husbandry including cattery and kennel maintenance, disease control and animal hygiene, local laws and parking regulations as well as matters relating to illegal camping, abandoned vehicles, overgrown allotments, illegal signage, and other compliance matters.
- Demonstrated ability to work productively both autonomously and in a team environment.
- Ability to work outside normal operating hours and in accordance with the section’s roster.
Desired:
- Previous experience in a Local Laws, compliance, or regulatory environment or a related field with transferable skills.
- Certificate III or IV in Government (Statutory Compliance) or similar.
