About The Opportunity (Internal Only)

An opportunity exists for an internal secondment to the role of Wastewater Governance Officer within the Water Services branch.

This position supports the delivery of Council’s wastewater governance and compliance functions. The role contributes to regulatory reporting, the development and maintenance of management plans, and assists operational teams with environmental compliance, risk reduction, and performance improvement activities.

This secondment provides a valuable opportunity for employees interested in expanding their skills, exploring a potential career change, or gaining experience in a governance and compliance-focused position within the water industry.

At the conclusion of the secondment, the successful applicant will return to their substantive position.

About You

  • Diploma or higher qualification relevant to the water and wastewater industry, with demonstrated technical knowledge and experience in this field.
  • Proven ability to analyse complex issues, develop solutions, and implement improvements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing accurate reports for diverse stakeholders.
  • Sound understanding of environmental regulations and the Water Supply (Safety and Reliability) Act 2008.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a small, multi-disciplinary team.
  • Current “C” class driver’s licence (mandatory).
  • (Desirable) Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree.
  • (Desirable) Demonstrated experience in working with a regulator.
