As a trainee within Council’s Information Services Branch, you will be part of a team that supports the organisation’s technology needs - from software and hardware support to telecommunications services = helping deliver reliable and effective digital services to our community.

About the Opportunities:

As an Information Technology Trainee, you will obtain practical experience within Council’s Service Desk team while undertaking a Certificate III in Information Technology. You will develop core IT capabilities through structured training, professional guidance and hands-on technical work throughout the 24-month traineeship.

Core duties may include:

  • Providing on-site and telephone-based IT support to staff.
  • Configuring and installing PCs, laptops, printers, software and peripherals.
  • Supporting Council’s telecommunications systems and services.
  • Assisting with general business software and applications.
  • Logging and managing IT requests and incidents using a Service Desk system.
  • Updating documentation and maintaining hardware/software asset registers.
  • Following established processes, guidelines and service standards.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement within the IT support function.

About You

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who:

  • Are committed to completing a Certificate III in Information Technology.
  • Have completed Year 12 or equivalent with suitable literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Demonstrate a genuine passion for technology, shown through IT-related school subjects or personal interest.
  • Possess strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Can work independently and follow instructions.
  • Have sound computer literacy and an eagerness to learn.
  • Hold a current C-Class driver licence (highly regarded).

Previous experience in customer service is desirable, but not required.
