About The Opportunity

Your role as a Development Planner is to provide planning advice and assessment of the impacts of development activities within the Region to ensure development reflects Council’s objectives and standards whilst also ensuring land use and development meet statutory requirements and community expectations

Recent graduates with the right attitude and ability to adapt quickly may be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

In this role, you will

  • Provide advice to prospective developers, consultants, stakeholders and the public on a range of planning, land use and development matters
  • In a timely manner asses development applications
  • Assist with and or undertake the processing of development applications
  • Assist in the preparation of Planning and Development Certificates and Property Searches investigations as required
  • Accurate actioning of correspondence relating to Planning matters in a timely manner
  • Carry out the inspection of completed works to ensure compliance with Development conditions, including development compliance assistance and approving plans of subdivision within time frames set by Council

About You:

  • Current ‘C’ class driver’s licence.
  • Strong communication, conflict de-escalation and resolution skills, professional approach with members of the public.
  • You hold a tertiary degree in Urban and Regional Planning
  • Membership of the Planning Institute of Australia, Registered Planner status or the ability to obtain
  • You have previous experience in providing quality advice to prospective developers, consultants, internal stakeholders and the public on a range of planning, land use and development matters. 
  • Well developed analytical skills to assess potential impacts relating to development activities within the region
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritise work to ensure timely assessment of development applications to meet statutory requirements 
  • Good working knowledge of planning legislation and regulations

Desired:

  • Previous experience in a Local Government environment
