About The Opportunity
As the Financial Operations Manager with Bundaberg Regional Council, you will lead Council's financial operations and reporting functions, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and best-practice financial management. Working closely with senior leaders across the organisation, you will oversee annual financial reporting, budgeting, long-term financial planning, audit processes and financial governance activities.
This is a key leadership role responsible for driving continuous improvement, strengthening financial controls and supporting informed decision-making that contributes to the long-term sustainability of the Bundaberg Region.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following key selection criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience in financial reporting, budgeting, audit management, financial governance and the application of Australian Accounting Standards.
- Demonstrated experience leading long-term financial planning, financial sustainability strategies and organisational budgeting processes within local government or another large, complex organisation.
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, manage competing priorities and deliver strategic projects and work programs.
- Advanced stakeholder engagement, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to provide trusted advice on complex and sensitive financial matters.
- Experience using complex financial management systems and driving continuous improvement in financial policies, processes and controls.
- Postgraduate qualifications in Business, CPA, CA or equivalent, or the ability to obtain, will be highly regarded.
