About The Opportunity

Your role as a Safety Business Partner is to provide contemporary work health and safety support to our organisation, ensuring statutory compliance. 

In this role, you will provide tactical and innovative input, critical insights, legislative and policy interpretation, and make recommendations surrounding emerging trends and opportunities impacting workplace safety.  You will also actively promote cultural change and support continuous improvement to provide a high quality, professional, consistent and cohesive service.  In addition to this, you will also deliver incident response and incident investigations in a timely manner.

About You

  • Qualifications in Workplace, Health & Safety, or related discipline with demonstrated experience in a similar role
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and experience interpreting and applying legislation, awards, industrial instruments and workplace policies.
  • Demonstrated experience in investigations (e.g. Incident Causal Assessment Method) involving internal and external parties.
  • Experience in working in a complex, high risk work environment implementing safety programs that have improved safety performance.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in building stakeholder relationships with internal customers and stakeholders as well as external organisations
  • Hold current "C" class drivers licence
  • Accreditation as a Workplace Rehabilitation Officer under WorkCover legislation would be highly regarded
  • Live and uphold the Council's values, show initiative, and a 'can do' attitude towards work

The Selection Process

The preferred candidate will be required to undertake a Pre-Employment Medical and National Police Clearance as part of the recruitment process.
