About The Opportunity 

We have a new opportunity for an experienced Procurement Business Partner to join our Strategic Procurement & Supply Team, due to an internal appointment. This is not your standard procurement role! This is an opportunity to operate at a strategic level within an established team. 

This position is a fundamental role within Council, delivering excellent customer service whilst building strength and capability in our procurement process, to deliver sustainable value in our commercial approaches to market for goods and services.

This unique opportunity supports career development and offers potential for advancement within a large local government organisation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating tender evaluations, providing guidance and support to decentralised buyers.
  • Providing internal probity services.
  • Identifying capable, pre-qualified suppliers. Where there are insufficient suppliers, invite new suppliers to register.
  • Conduct RFQs to fulfil the business requirements ensuring all sourcing activities and negotiations align to the Procurement policy.
  • Collaborate with the Procurement team for contract and catalogue opportunities promoting increased self service.
  • Ensure sourcing activities and related data are captured and managed in the required systems, for the purposes of tracking benefits.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring that customers receive responsive services and accurate advice and guidance, including proactively engaging with and seeking feedback from all stakeholders.
  • Develop an understanding of customers’ and stakeholders’ procurement needs and recommend strategies which align with Council policy and legislative requirements.

About You

  • Relevant qualifications in fields such as commerce, supply chain management, procurement, or business management.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service, developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effective negotiation and contracting skills.
  • Well-developed organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in procurement and supply practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and contribute to a professional high performing team.
  • High level (Advanced) experience working in MS Word, MS Excel and MS Power BI.
