Wintringham is a specialised non-religious not-for-profit welfare organisation. We are committed to providing older people who are at risk or have experienced homelessness with a range of high-quality housing and services. We employ more than 1,000 staff across Victoria and Tasmania.
Your new role
Wintringham is seeking experienced Social Workers, Psychologists or Allied Health Practitioners to join our Residential Aged Care Team in Bellerive (TAS). As a member of the home’s leadership team, you will work to enhance the quality of lives of residents and ensure a safe and harmonious living environment.
Joining our team means playing a pivotal role in promoting a person-centred approach to care and support and optimising people’s quality of life. Working within a multidisciplinary framework your expertise will be invaluable in providing support for residents with complex behavioural and psychosocial support needs, ensuring they receive the individualised care and attention they require. This engaging Part Time role will consist of 7 shifts per fortnight as per the below roster:
Week 1: Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday (0900 – 1700)
Week 2: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday (0900 – 1700)
Your duties and responsibilities will include:
- Work within a wellness and reablement approach to assist residents to reach their goals and maximise their independence and autonomy within the context of communal living.
- Undertake initial needs assessments of new residents.
- Monitor and review resident psychosocial support needs.
- Assist residents to access and navigate the health and community service systems.
- Engage specialist services to assist residents to maintain their preferred lifestyle
- Provide regular supervision and support of the social and emotional component of work undertaken by Personal Care Assistants.
- Actively contribute to the development and evaluation of the role.
We are looking for candidates with the following:
- Tertiary degree in Social Work, Psychology or Allied Health.
- Commitment to social justice
- Effective team player with staff management experience
- Ability to collaborate with residents, service providers, and staff
- Knowledge and understanding of Aged Care, NDIS, VCAT, OPA, Mental Health, and other relevant service systems
- Experience in the homelessness, aged care, disability, corrections, and/or community services sector
- Current Driver’s Licence and reliable vehicle suitable for transporting residents
