Our Hobart Residential Aged Care home is a small, modern, and homelike environment where everyone knows each other. It’s a calm, well-paced setting allowing staff to provide quality, person-centred care without the rush of a hospital setting.

 

Your new role

We are currently seeking a proactive Personal Care Assistant to join our friendly and dynamic residential team at our Bellerive Site on a Casual Basis. . Our coastal Residential Aged Care home provides a warm, community-focused setting rather than a hospital environment - fostering a calmer, more rewarding experience for both residents and staff.

 

Bring your passion for well-being to our close-knit community, fostering a warm and supportive environment for our residents. Your roster will be flexible and will comprise of negotiable workdays and hours spanning daytime, afternoon and evening shifts.  In this role, you'll have the opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the delivery of high-quality care.

 

Our casual PCA pool is growing, and we want passionate nurses like you at its core.

 

Your responsibilities and duties will include:

  • Assisting residents with personal care including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming and other activities of daily living
  • To observe and report changes in resident’s behaviour or physical condition
  • To undertake medication management and treatment procedures as directed by the Residential Site Manager or person in charge
  • To liaise with medical practitioners, pharmacists and other health services to provide relevant services for the care and wellbeing of the residents
  • Assisting in the implementation of cigarette and alcohol programs
  • Observing and reporting changes in residents behaviour or physical condition and maintain appropriate documentation as required
  • Providing emotional support to residents.

 

 

We are looking for candidates with the following:

  • Ability to work both in team and autonomously
  • Certificate III/IV in Aged Care/Individual Support
  • Completion of medication administration unit (HLTHPS006 - Assist Clients with Medication)
  • Prior experience in housing & homelessness support, aged care, welfare, disability support, mental health or community/home care
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to enhance or maintain our residents independence and lifestyle
  • A friendly and non-judgmental attitude
