About the role
Reporting to the Reception Eligibility Manager, the Receptionist contributes to the wider Burnside Hospital Administration team, and is responsible for providing and supporting secure, reliable, efficient, and fit for purpose administrative solutions to meet the Hospital’s operational objectives, and facilitating positive patient experiences through the Hospital. This role requires engaging with patients, visitors, hospital staff, professionals and service providers to support the provision of Burnside Hospital’s purpose - to provide exceptional care, always.
This is a permanent part-time opportunity (0.6 FTE minimum) at our Stepney location. The role operates on a flexible 6-day roster (morning, afternoon, evening and Saturday shifts).
About you
You will enjoy engaging and communicating with patients, visitors, hospital staff, and clinical and management professionals while applying your customer service excellence experience and administrative skills in a way that helps Burnside Hospital achieve its operational and administrative goals. This position requires an individual who:
- Has demonstrated experience working in a hospital-based clinic or theatre bookings area.
- Holds or is working towards formal relevant qualifications.
- Commits to a patient-focused approach in service provision, and displays the highest levels of personal presentation and professional and courteous conduct in this client-facing role.
- Has exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with well-developed written and verbal skills.
- Is proficient in Microsoft applications and hospital database systems, and has well-developed word processing skills.
- Is able to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a team.
- Demonstrates ability to multitask, self-prioritise and to work to a deadline.
- Is flexible and proactive in their approach to work, with a positive ‘can do’ attitude.
- Possesses strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.
- Embodies Burnside Hospital’s values-based approach.
- Maintains the highest ethical standards and treats all hospital and patient matters with confidentiality and respect.
