About the role
Reporting to the Clinical Manager Wards, the Clinical Nurse works at an advanced level of nursing practice and plays a pivotal role in delivering safe, contemporary, patient‑centred care across the ward and COU. The role involves comprehensive assessment, intervention and evaluation, providing expert guidance in complex situations, and collaborating closely with the multidisciplinary team to maintain consistently high clinical standards. The CN drives quality improvement, leads a defined clinical portfolio, and builds the capability of nursing and support staff. As a senior team member, the CN models Burnside Hospital’s values and fosters a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for patients, families and colleagues while championing optimal patient outcomes.
Based at our Stepney location, this permanent part-time role (0.8 FTE) is ideal for a suitably qualified Registered Nurse - preferably with acute surgical or orthopaedic experience - who is ready to step into a leadership position within a professional and supportive environment. You will bring advanced clinical skills, a strong understanding of contemporary nursing practice, and a collaborative, professional presence to interactions with patients and the multidisciplinary team. Your leadership capability will enable you to coach and support staff, foster continuous learning, and contribute to high‑quality, patient‑centred care.
