About us

For over 30 years we’ve supported and protected some of the most fragile ecosystems across the continent and seen the impact of our science-based approach. We keep our eyes on the horizon and focus firmly on long-term, landscape scale impact.

As a national, not-for-profit, we want to continue to expand the areas we protect and deepen the impact we have. We work in partnership with Traditional Owners, listening to and learning from the customs and cultures that came before us.

Together we can heal and protect the bush, now and into the future.

About the role

Bush Heritage’s 2030 Strategy is to improve biodiversity protection, function and connectivity across landscapes. The Conservation Land Management Intern will be based at Scottsdale Reserve, in the South East New South Wales Priority Landscape.

The role will integrate with the reserve management plan and provide support to reserve operational activities. The role will have a strong focus on restoration which will include activities such as plant surveys, seed collection, propagation, revegetation and site management.

The position will be under the supervision of the Scottsdale Reserve Manager, Phil Palmer, and receive daily support from the Field Officer, Kim Jarvis. The intern will be required to work autonomously at times and exercise an appropriate level of initiative. The intern will receive support and mentoring from other Bush Heritage staff including the Scottsdale Field Officer, other members of the NSW team and the Seeding the Future program mentors.

Scottsdale Reserve has an extensive volunteer program which will result in the intern working closely with volunteers during day-to-day tasks.
