Bush Heritage Australia's Seeding the Future team is recruiting to fill a fantastic opportunity for a Weed Management Strategy Intern – Reedy Creek Reserve.

About the role

This internship will contribute to developing a weed management strategy for Reedy Creek Reserve, Agnes Water, Queensland. The intern will help investigate, develop and build on existing weed management and monitoring methods to enhance weed management outcomes across the reserve. The internship will involve office-based and fieldwork components.

What you'll need to succeed

  • A relevant qualification in conservation, environmental science, or a related TAFE discipline.
  • A strong desire to learn, develop new skills, collaborate with others, build professional networks, and approach challenges with creativity and innovation.
  • A demonstrated commitment to nature conservation and alignment with Bush Heritage’s values and objectives.
  • Proficiency in using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for environmental data analysis and mapping.
  • Practical experience in invasive weed control and monitoring, with well-developed plant identification skills, including recognition of common weed species.
  • A good level of fitness and the physical capability to undertake extended periods of fieldwork in varied outdoor conditions.
  • Advanced emotional competence with excellent interpersonal skills, and capable of working effectively with a diverse range of people (staff, volunteers and supporters, neighbours and representatives of other organisations). 
  • A current and valid Australian driver’s licence.
