About Blue Haven:

Blue Haven Illawarra is owned and operated by Kiama Municipal Council. We offer a true continuum of aged care services and a wide range of disability services for people in the Illawarra region. We provide residential aged care, in-home support, disability support and coordination, community transport and independent living.

Blue Haven require passionate, qualified, and experienced professionals to join our organisation to support our aged care clients and residents. Blue Haven Bonaira services over 1,200 clients across Residential Aged Care, Retirement Living, Home Care Packages, Commonwealth Home Support Program and Community Transport across the Illawarra and Shoalhaven.

The role:
We currently have traineeships available in the role of Care Service Employee - Nursing at our Blue Haven Residential Aged Care Facility.

In the role of Care Service Employee - Nursing you'll provide personal care and social support to residents. You'll also assist the facility to maintain quality standards of care and support Blue Haven's mission statement and objectives.

As part of the traineeship, you'll complete Certificate III in Individual Support through a Registered Training Organisation. This will require approximately 12 hours of classroom studies per week and 15 hours on the job. 

We offer:

  • Temporary part time position, 15 hours on the job per week, plus weekly face to face learning for 12 months. Attendance with the training organisation will vary depending on  their schedule. 
  • The rate of pay is in accordance with the award
  • Plus 10.5% superannuation.

To be successful in this role you will need: 

  • Participation in the Traineeship Program
  • First Aid Certificate which will be complete as part of your traineeship
  • The ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, residents and work in a team
  • The ability to read and record information and to maintain confidentiality
  • Knowledge of manual handling, infection control and mandatory reporting as part of traineeship.

Although not essential it is desirable you have some life experience relating to aged care issues.
