Commercial Manager – Mine Commodities

 

Bravus Mining & Resources is an Australian company dedicated to creating jobs and opportunities for regional Queensland communities. 

We are recruiting a Commercial Manager—Mine Commodities to support our Carmichael Mine, a 10mtpa coal mine located northwest of Clermont in central Queensland. This critical role is based in our Townsville office, and the successful applicant will be a Townsville resident or someone wishing to return to the region. We will offer relocation assistance to move back to Townsville for this opportunity.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

Based in Townsville, the Commercial Manager -Mine Commodities holds a key leadership position within the organisation, supporting our Budget and Contract Owners ensuring we have the required commodities and services, i.e fuel, Major OEM parts, explosives, chemicals etc. You will drive the commercial strategy, enabling our people to have the required commodities to maximise revenue opportunities and ensure sustainable/innovative growth and profitability. In addition to this being a great role for a Townsville local or someone looking to return to Townsville, it also represents a fantastic opportunity for someone to relocate to North Queensland to further their career in the commercial space. 

 

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Develop, lead and execute category plans based on research and analysis to optimise value-for-money outcomes that meet stakeholder needs and business expectations.
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies to meet business needs, enhance stakeholder engagement, and challenge and motivate providers to optimise outcomes.
  • Lead negotiations on high-impact, complex supply arrangements and contract issues to deliver better commercial outcomes.
  • Identify and manage commercial, contractual, operational, financial, reputational, ethical and supply chain risks to minimise negative impacts on our business.
  • Provide expert commercial advice to key stakeholders.
  • Provide commercial advice to support contract owners in contract management, e.g., management of payment claims and invoicing to ensure compliance with the commercial agreement.
  • Demonstrate leadership in safety through personal behaviours and conversations.

Other qualifications and attributes required include:

  • Undergraduate degree in commerce, economics, law, engineering, business, or relevant disciplines.
  • Post-graduate qualifications in procurement, supply chain management, finance, law or management (desired).
  • At least 10 years of senior supply chain/category management experience.
  • At least 5 years of commodities experience in contractor-operated open-cut mining.
  • Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, strategy and analysis, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • A flexible attitude to work will be required to meet operational deadlines.
  • You will also demonstrate key behaviours, including collaboration and inclusiveness, adaptability, ability to develop people, self-awareness, ability to influence and prioritise.
