CENTRAL PROJECTS FUNCTION

Bravus’ new Central Projects Function is tasked with delivering the significant program of Facilities, Infrastructure, Processing, Rail Systems and Technology capital works for our Carmichael Rail Network, Bowen Rail Company, and Bravus Mining and Resources businesses.

This is an unmatched opportunity to work as part of a cohesive, multi-disciplinary team, on both rail and mining projects valued at more than A$100 million in the next 12 months alone.

Bravus’ mining, rail network, and freight rail assets have decades-long operational horizons, and this provides an exciting pipeline of largescale projects for the Central Projects Function to deliver.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is based at the Carmichael Mine on a 10:4 roster. The Supervisor - Civil oversees the construction and maintenance of civil infrastructure essential for supporting mining activities and ensuring the safety and efficiency of our Carmichael Mine operations. This role is instrumental in managing civil construction projects, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, and promoting a culture of safety and quality in all civil works.

Responsibilities of the role include:

• Supervise and lead a team of civil construction workers and contractors in the execution of civil projects, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and safety regulations.
• Coordinate with engineering and planning teams to review project scopes, schedules, and resource requirements, and provide input on constructability, feasibility, and risk management.
• Oversee the construction and maintenance of civil infrastructure, including haul roads, access roads, drainage systems, stockpiles, and mine infrastructure, to support mining operations.
• Conduct regular site inspections and quality checks to ensure compliance with engineering standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
• Manage equipment and material resources effectively, including procurement, allocation, and inventory management, to support timely and cost-effective project execution.
• Monitor project progress, productivity, and costs, and report on key performance indicators to management, highlighting achievements, challenges, and deviations from planned objectives.
• Provide technical guidance and support to construction crews, assisting with problem-solving, interpretation of engineering drawings, and resolution of construction-related issues.
• Ensure that all construction activities are carried out in accordance with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies, and promote a culture of safety excellence among team members.
• Foster positive working relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, and regulatory agencies, and facilitate effective communication and collaboration to achieve project goals.
• Mentor and develop junior staff members, providing training, coaching, and performance feedback to support their growth and advancement within the organisation.

Other qualifications and attributes required include:

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in a civil construction supervisory role.
• Civil engineering principles, construction methods, and materials, with experience in bulk and detailed earthworks, road construction, and concrete structures.
• Exposure to multidisciplinary construction  

• Familiarity with safety regulations, construction best practices, and environmental standards applicable to civil works on a coal mine.
• Current Coal Board Medical, Standard 11, S1, S2, S3.

Desired:

• Heavy industry and/or Queensland Coal Mining industry experienced (desired)
• Cert IV in Civil Construction
• Trade qualifications and/or experience
• First Aid
