CENTRAL PROJECTS FUNCTION

Bravus’ new Central Projects Function is tasked with delivering the significant program of Facilities, Infrastructure, Processing, Rail Systems and Technology capital works for our Carmichael Rail Network, Bowen Rail Company, and Bravus Mining and Resources businesses.

This is an unmatched opportunity to work as part of a cohesive, multi-disciplinary team, on both rail and mining projects valued at more than A$100 million in the next 12 months alone.

Bravus’ mining, rail network, and freight rail assets have decades-long operational horizons, and this provides an exciting pipeline of largescale projects for the Central Projects Function to deliver.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is based at the Carmichael Mine on a 10:4 roster. The Supervisor - Processing (E&I) oversees the electrical and instrumentation aspects of processing activities crucial for coal extraction and production at our Carmichael Mine. This role is integral in ensuring that projects are delivered to support the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of processing equipment and systems, contributing directly to the success and productivity of our mining operation.

 

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Supervise the electrical and instrumentation project resources team in the processing plant, including planning and scheduling of project activities, assigning tasks, and tracking / monitoring progress.
  • Interface and effectively integrate with the O&M team to execute project work within the process facility which are undertaken both inside and outside planned shutdown periods.
  • Review and interpret design drawings, technical drawings, schematics, vendor manuals, and relevant legislation & codes.
  • Engage with the O&M team and other stakeholders during the concept engineering, project execution and project hand-over phases.
  • Undertake operational readiness and project handover activities including as-built verification, identification of statutory & preventative maintenance requirements, performance testing and development of hand-over documentation for the O&M team.
  • Engage with engineering resources regarding engineering design, maintainability & operability reviews, hazops & risk assessments and design optimisation.
  • Develop project delivery plans, project cost estimates and project schedules.
  • Coordinate sub-contractor management processes from on-boarding to demobilisation.
  • Effectively manage sub-contractor project delivery safety and efficiency.
  • Undertake project delivery quality control inspections, including factory acceptance tests.
  • Effectively control and report on project activity schedule and costs.
  • Utilise project and business systems to manage the project life cycle.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and environmental standards in all project activities, and promote a culture of safety and accountability amongst team members.
  • Coordinate with vendors and the commercial team to procure materials, spare parts, and equipment required to support project delivery activities, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints.

Other qualifications and attributes required include:

 

Necessary:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a suitably related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in in engineering design, construction, and project management, with a focus on infrastructure and facility projects.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, instrumentation, control systems, and PLCs, with hands-on experience in troubleshooting and repair.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations, codes, and standards governing electrical and instrumentation practices in industrial settings.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and familiarity with project management processes and systems.

 

 

Desired:

  • Heavy industry and/or Mining industry experienced.
  • Relevant trade qualifications and certifications.
