CENTRAL PROJECTS FUNCTION

Bravus’ new Central Projects Function is tasked with delivering the significant program of Facilities, Infrastructure, Processing, Rail Systems and Technology capital works for our Carmichael Rail Network, Bowen Rail Company, and Bravus Mining and Resources businesses.

This is an unmatched opportunity to work as part of a cohesive, multi-disciplinary team, on both rail and mining projects valued at more than A$100 million in the next 12 months alone.

Bravus’ mining, rail network, and freight rail assets have decades-long operational horizons, and this provides an exciting pipeline of largescale projects for the Central Projects Function to deliver.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Safety Compliance Coordinator supports the Project Delivery teams through ensuring contractor compliance to the SHMS with specific focus on operator competency and adherence to SHMS requirements.

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Review and assess Project contractor training programs for adequacy for various construction operations, including mobile plant operations, safety procedures, and site-specific inductions. 
  • Conduct Verification of Competency (VOC) assessments to ensure operators meet the required standards. 
  • Audit and evaluate contractor performance in critical areas such as training and compliance to the organisations contractor management system. 
  • Identify training needs and support the development of training plans to address skill gaps.
  • Collaborate with site supervisors and management to ensure training programs meet operational needs.
  • Support project managers and supervision in the investigation of HSE incidents and the implementation of corrective actions across the Projects Organisation.
  • Perform thorough audits of contractor operations, processes, and documentation against company requirements; maintain records of these and track compliance to corrective actions.
  • Assess contractor compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
  • Evaluate contractor performance in critical areas such as safety, environmental impact, and operational efficiency.
  • Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure contractor processes are relevant and compliant.

Other qualifications and attributes required include:

Necessary:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122) or equivalent 
  • Auditing Experience: Lead Auditor Management Systems certification, proven experience conducting audits and preparing audit reports. 
  • Industry Experience: Experience in safety critical work environments in rail, mining/resources, or construction, with a focus on training and auditing compliance roles. 
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mining, rail and construction operations, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills 
  • Training Experience: Proven experience in delivering RII training and conducting assessments. 
  • RII Competencies and High-Risk Work Licences: RTO accredited RII competencies for mobile plant and equipment competencies & High-risk work licenses (e.g., EWP, Forklift,) 
  • Computer proficient (Advanced Microsoft Office, systems).
  • Ability to commute across Carmichael Mine and Bowen Rail Company site locations to support operational requirements. 
  • Current Open ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence.

  • RIW Card (Rail Industry Worker Identification) 
  • Standard 11 Coal Induction and eligibility to be appointed as a supervisor on a coal min
  • HLTAID003 Provide First Aid
  • Mental Health First Aid
