We are recruiting an Accountant for the Carmichael mine, which is a 10mtpa coal mine located north-west of Clermont in central Queensland. While Rockhampton and Townsville are our primary recruitment hubs we encourage and will consider applicants from all regional Queensland communities.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Bravus Mining & Resources is seeking a motivated Accountant to join our Finance team based in Townsville on a 5/2 roster. In this role, you’ll work closely with the Site Accountant to support accurate financial reporting, cost control, and the efficient oversight of financial activities across mining operations.
This role is highly collaborative and requires strong communication skills to engage effectively with key stakeholders. Your ability to deliver accurate insights and support sound decision-making will be essential to ensuring financial integrity and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities of the role include:
- Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports related to mine site operations.
- Work closely with the Site Accountant to analyse and monitor costs associated with mining activities, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints.
- Maintain meticulous records of financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards.
- Collaborate with procurement and vendors to process invoices promptly, verifying accuracy and adherence to contractual terms.
- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets for mine site operations, providing valuable insights to support financial planning.
- Conduct regular reconciliations of accounts related to mine site activities, identifying and addressing discrepancies.
- Stay informed about relevant regulations and compliance requirements related to mine site accounting, ensuring adherence to industry standards.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations and procurement.

Other qualifications and attributes required include:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 4-5 year’s experience in a similar role, preferably within the mining industry
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team
