Trainee Bushcare Officer
- Engage in hands-on bushcare and nursery operations while studying for an AQF Level 4 Certificate IV in Horticulture.
- Work collaboratively with volunteers to support environmental preservation and community engagement.
- Contribute to the management of native plant propagation and bushland regeneration efforts.
- Develop skills in record-keeping and data management within the Council’s systems.
Position Overview
The Trainee Bushcare Officer plays a vital role in supporting the Bushcare Coordinator in delivering impactful bushcare initiatives. This position is designed for individuals eager to learn about horticulture practises while contributing to local environmental conservation efforts.
As a Trainee, you will have the opportunity to complete a Certificate IV in Horticulture, gaining valuable skills and knowledge that will enhance your career in environmental management.
The position is permanent full time, 2 year contract - 35 hours per week.

Candidate Profile
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual with a passion for bushcare and nursery operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work well within a team and possess strong communication skills.
- Genuine interest in ecosystem management and horticultural practises.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships and work independently.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to manage competing priorities.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Current NSW Workcover Construction Induction Certificate (White card) and a Class C, P1, or P2 driver’s licence.
Additional qualifications, such as a First Aid Certificate or ChemCert Accreditation, will be advantageous but are not mandatory.
Salary & Benefits
- Remuneration at T4 - T10 of Council’s salary system ($853.65 - $1,194.57 per week) depending on qualifications and experience
- 11.5% superannuation

Working Conditions
