What You'll Be Doing (Your Apprenticeship Journey)

You will work alongside experienced operators, learning the ropes and contributing directly to major civil works across the Bogan Shire region. Your apprenticeship includes:

  • Hands-On: Operating and assisting with the maintenance of a variety of plant and equipment (under supervision).
  • Building Infrastructure: Supporting critical road, drainage, and flood mitigation construction projects.
  • Safety First: Upholding our high safety standards and contributing to a tidy, efficient worksite.
  • Learning: You will travel to Dubbo for study blocks at TAFE to undertake your studies and work towards your Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations.

Salary and Benefits

  • Full-time 3 year contract 
  • Salary Range: Apprenticeship rates ($482 - $1,230.40) based on age and previous qualifications
  • All fees relating to study enrolment and course materials paid by Council
  • Travel and accommodation related expenses paid by Council as per Council policy
  • 12% superannuation
  • Generous leave entitlements (including 4 weeks' annual leave, access to sick and carer's leave, and more)

Are You a Good Fit?

We’re looking for candidates with drive and enthusiasm more than prior experience! If you possess the following, we want to hear from you:

  • A genuine interest in plant operations and civil construction
  • Motivation to learn and complete a Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and contribute positively to a team
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Basic computer skills (email, internet, Microsoft Office)
  • Completion of Year 10 or equivalent (NSW RoSA)
  • Ability to obtain a White Card within 1 month of appointment
  • Current manual Class C, P1 or P2 driver licence (or ability to obtain within 3 months)
  • Australian residency or valid work visa

Bonus points if you also have:

  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • White Card
