About the Role

You’ll be responsible for supervising and working alongside the gardening team to deliver high-quality maintenance and beautification across Council-managed green spaces. Your tasks will include:

  • Preparing and monitoring maintenance schedules and weekly work plans
  • Leading and motivating staff, providing on-the-job training and encouraging safe work practices
  • Overseeing plant health, fertilising, watering, weeding and trimming
  • Coordinating mowing, edging, litter removal and other routine tasks to keep spaces safe and appealing
  • Managing irrigation systems and ensuring equipment is maintained and operated safely

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary Range: Grade 4 to 5 ($1,249.44 –  $1,615.19 per week) depending on qualifications and experience
  • 12% superannuation

  • A genuine interest in gardening, lawn care and keeping public spaces beautiful
  • Strong organisational and time management skills to plan and deliver outcomes on time
  • Clear communication and interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships
  • A commitment to safety and pride in your work

Formal qualifications are valued but not essential. If you don’t yet hold a Certificate III in Horticulture (or equivalent) or ChemCert accreditation, Council will support you to enrol and complete these within the role.

You’ll also need:

  • NSW Construction Induction Certificate (White Card)
  • Current Class C driver licence
  • Australian residency or valid work visa
