Development Control Planner

About the role

Bathurst Regional Council is seeking to employ a full time Development Control Planner within the Environmental, Planning & Building Services Department. The successful applicant should be enthusiastic, self-motivated and be able to provide advice in a wide range of environmental and compliance matters. The position is predominantly responsible for assessing Development Applications and providing advice to the public on planning related matters.

An attractive salary between $1,421.50 and $1,493.43 per week will be negotiated with the successful applicant depending upon qualifications and experience. This position is based on 35 hours per week with an RDO every three weeks. 

Candidates require a Bachelor Degree in Town Planning (or a related field). Applicants nearing completion are encouraged to apply. A current Class C Driver's Licence is required.

Key Requirements

Essential 

  • Near completion or attainment of a University Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or equivalent
  • A current NSW Class C Driver’s Licence
  • A sound knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and related legislation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Desirable 

  • A minimum 12 months experience in NSW town planning duties and specifically of development applications.

Salary: $1,421.50 to $1,493.43 per week + super 

Position Status: Permanent Full Time 

Hours of work: 35 hours per week with an RDO every third week
