Events Team Leader

About the role

Do you love events and want to assist in leading the team responsible for the biggest events in Bathurst? Council is looking for an experienced Team Leader to deliver the high quality events the Bathurst Region is renowned for. With major events including the Bathurst Winter Festival, Bathurst NRL, New Year’s Eve and five car races in addition to supporting corporate functions for the Council.

This role will see you working closely with Manager Events, businesses and community members in developing and delivering Council’s annual events program.

The successful candidate will have the ability to problem solve, project manage and work under pressure. You must be available and willing to work additional hours during events which will include weekends, evenings and public holidays.

Key Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in marketing, Public Relations, communications, events or relevant work experience for minimum 3 years
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to research, draft and implement relevant event and marketing plans
  • Experience in staff management and leadership, including the ability to develop teamwork across the events section
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to communicate to a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work under pressure and successfully deliver results under tight deadlines
  • Strong communication skills including conflict resolution and negotiation
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to find solutions
  • Commitment and motivation to achieve goals
  • Dedicated to excellent customer service
  • Demonstrated experience in monitoring and evaluating event and marketing campaigns and recommending change
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies relevant to the event sector
  • Comprehensive WHS knowledge of risk management and procedures
  • Current Class C drivers’ licence

This position requires a pre employment health assessment which includes a functional, audio and drug & alcohol screen.

Salary: $1561.38 to $1640.42 per week + super

Position Status: Permanent full time 

Hours of work: 35 hours per week with an RDO every third week
