Bathurst Regional Council has an exciting opportunity to join their HR team in a government organisation that is connected to its local community offering secure employment and a great work/life balance.
The Health & Safety Officer provides support to the WHS & RTW Coordinator in the management and coordination all Council’s Work Health and Safety programs, systems and procedures as well as support the return-to-work program. This includes areas such as administrative work, WHS related auditing and compliance, workplace inspections, development and maintenance of the WHS management system and associated policies and procedures as well as maintenance of the VAULT notification and recording system. This position will also act as the secretary of Council's WHS Committee.
To be successful in this role you will be a team player with a 'can-do' attitude who is approachable, well organised and has the ability to work in a fast-paced diverse environment.
Key Requirements
- Current drivers licence
- A minimum of 2 years experience working in WHS or related activities
- A working knowledge and understanding of the WHS Act, regulations and associated legislation
- A working knowledge and understanding of the Workers Compensation Act, regulations and associated legislation
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
- Very strong computer skills
- Ability to negotiate and liaise effectively with a wide range of people

This position requires a pre employment health assessment which includes a functional, audio and drug & alcohol screen.
Salary: $1068.20 to $1122.28 per week + super
Position Status: Permanent full time
Hours of work: 35 hours per week with an RDO every third week
