About the Role
Bathurst Regional Council is seeking a Projects Team Leader to assist the Technical Services Section with the implementation of an extensive capital works program. The position principally involves the investigation and development of design and construction briefs for special engineering projects; contract development and management; and managing a team responsible for the construction and maintenance of public buildings and facilities.
The Projects Team Leader will be responsible for the implementation of a number of concurrent projects within the Engineering Services Department, in a friendly working environment.
The successful candidate will possess a Degree in Engineering, will have relevant Project Management experience, and shall be familiar with the tendering and contract management process. Experience in and knowledge of building construction and maintenance practices will be valued highly.
Key requirements:
- Prepare detailed contract documentation.
- Oversee site construction of awarded contracts including site inspections.
- Evaluate tenders and prepare Council report making recommendation on contract award.
- Co-ordinate multiple projects at one time to meet budget and time constraints.
- Engage and manage external consultants.
- Prepare preliminary estimates for strategic budgets.
- Draft internal and external correspondence.
- Contract administration including assessment of progress claims and variations and dispute resolution with contractors and residents.
- Manage staff responsible for ongoing building maintenance practices.
- Ensure Work Health & Safety compliance on large construction projects.
