About the role

Bathurst Regional Council is seeking to employ a full time Wastewater Treatment Works Operator within the Water and Waste section of Councils Engineering Services Department. The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, self-motivated and able to work alone and in a team environment carrying out a variety of tasks in order to satisfy the requirements of the role.

The Wastewater Treatment Works Operator is responsible for meeting Council's obligations to safely operate and maintain the Wastewater Treatment Plant in accordance with industry standards and to meet Council's obligations under its Environment Protection Licence. The successful applicant will also be required to be on call in rotation with other staff.

Candidates require a sound knowledge in production and or maintenance of complex plant and equipment. Applicants with a qualification in wastewater treatment, chemical dosing or water treatment will be highly considered.

Key Requirements

  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Must be able to swim
  • Commitment to the principles of WHS in the workplace
  • Ability to work on-call and overtime including weekends, on a regular basis. (Must have the ability to respond to an afterhours call out within 20 minutes)
  • Basic mechanical aptitude
  • Mathematical and Chemical knowledge to HSC level or equivalent
  • Willingness to undertake various relevant training courses
  • Willingness to be vaccinated for Hepatitis A and B and have blood tests to confirm immunity

As part of the recruitment process, you will be required to undertake a tour of the Wastewater Treatment Works. This will occur at the interview stage.

This position requires a pre employment health assessment which includes a functional, audio and drug and alcohol screen.

Salary: $1,155.40 to $1,213.83 per week + Adverse Working Conditions Allowance Level 2 of $48.94 per week + superannuation

Position Status: Permanent Full-time
