The Waste team at Bathurst Regional Council is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced person to join their team in the permanent full time role of Waste Project Officer. 

This position forms part of an energetic and diverse team responsible for managing waste projects and ensuring that residents and visitors to the Bathurst region are informed and engaged around the waste and recycling service that Council delivers.

The successful candidate must have the ability to coordinate and carry out community education projects and/or events which will occasionally occur outside of normal business hours. 

Key Requirements

  • Class C NSW drivers licence 
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Environmental Sciences (or currently undertaking)
  • Proven experience and knowledge in all aspects of project management  
  • Knowledge of waste management procedures 
  • Strong time management and oral & written communication skills 
  • Research and analytical skills including the ability to write clear and concise reports 
  • Experience in education and promotions in waste (or other relevant industry)
  • Critical and lateral thinking skills 
  • Ability to work with internal and external customer, and develop solutions  
  • Ability to work well individually with limited supervision and within a team environment 
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

This position requires a pre employment health assessment which includes a functional, audio and drug and alcohol screen.

Salary: $1,411.08 to $1,482.51 per week + superannuation

Position Status: Permanent Full-time 

Hours of work: 35 hours per week with an RDO every third week
