The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for a reliable and motivated individual to undertake a vocational education qualification in Library, Information and Cultural Services and learn a variety of library functions and activities by participating as a team member in the Library Services Team.

As a Library Services Trainee, you will assist in the operation of the Bega Valley Shire Library services at various locations and work with the Systems and Collections Librarian to develop skills to maintain library technology systems and deliver technology training programs.

In return you will be supported in completing your studies and practical training for the duration of a one year traineeship through a structured training plan.

About You

We are seeking an individual who has completed Year 10 level education or higher and has a NSW Class C Driver Licence or the ability to achieve this within the six months.

You will have the following skills and experience;

  • Interest and basic understanding of the services provided by Bega Valley Shire Library Service.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and interest in providing customer service to the wider community
  • Good time management and organisational skills.
  • Interest and aptitude in the use of technology including mobile devices, social media and Microsoft Office software.
  • Additional skills, knowledge or qualifications that may be applicable to this position, such as work experience or other training.

Benefits

This is a fixed term full time position working 35 hours per week for a period of 12 months.

The total remuneration package for this position commences at $26,100.98 to $44,796.49 gross per annum, comprising of:

  • $452.20 to $776.10 per week base salary
  • $49.74 to $85.37 per week superannuation (calculated at 11%)
