The Opportunity
We have an opportunity for a detail-oriented individual to scope, develop, cost and maintain annual construction and maintenance programs and schedules for the Works teams and contractors to deliver, as well as carry out QA activities and provide front line technical engineering advice to coordinators and team leaders in Works Section.
As a Civil Engineer (Works), you will assist the Works and Assets Manager/Works Superintendent to evaluate, prioritise and schedule Council's construction, maintenance and operations activities, and liaise with key stakeholders to develop a Priority Work Schedule and long-range forecast of activities. You will assist in the detailed preparation and delivery of the annual Works capital and maintenance budget, and use proprietary systems to accurately capture, forecast and report monthly, quarterly and annual expenditure.

About You
We are seeking an individual who holds a degree-level qualification in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline (consideration may also be given to experienced applicants who have already substantially completed a 4-year Engineering Degree) and has demonstrated experience in design and delivery of civil engineering and/or building construction projects.
You will have the following skills and experience;
- In-depth knowledge and experience of project and contract management from concept to completion.
- Detailed understanding of civil infrastructure operation, maintenance and construction best practice including sealed and unsealed roads, rural and urban drainage systems, and structures such as bridges and retaining walls.
- Thorough understanding of legislation, policies and codes relating to civil construction and quarrying.
- Developed skills in budgeting, accounting. reporting and data management including the use of proprietary software.
Benefits
This is a permanent, full-time position working 35 hours per week.
The total remuneration package for this position commences at $117,094.12 gross per annum, comprising of:
- $1,958.10 per week base salary
- $225.18 per week superannuation (calculated at 11.5%)
- $68.53 per week Civil Liability Allowance (calculated at 3.5%)
