The Opportunity
We have an opportunity for an experienced and dependable individual to plan, prepare and provide meals for children attending child care facility, including maintaining food expenditure.
As a Children Services Cook, you will prepare and display a weekly menu whilst developing and maintaining a written food safety plan which includes procedures for safe food handling and storage. You will promote an open exchange of information about each child’s daily health, dietary and nutritional needs between children, families and the children’s centre.

About You
We are seeking an individual who holds a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (SIT30816) or equivalent and has a sound knowledge of regulations, standards, policies and professional practices for the provision of food in early childhood services.
You will have the following skills and experience;
- Sound knowledge and understanding of the daily health, dietary and nutritional needs of infants and young children.
- Advanced skills in menu planning, food storage, safety, transport, preparation and handling.
- Working knowledge of the safe operation and maintenance of kitchen equipment e.g. dishwashers, fridge/freezer, food processors and mixers, microwaves and conventional ovens.
- High level of oral communications skills including the ability to relate to children, parents and staff.
Benefits
This is a casual position working varying hours.
The total remuneration package for this position commences at $40.06 gross per hour (inclusive of casual loading and superannuation), comprising of:
- $28.61 per hour base salary
- $7.16 per hour casual loading (calculated at 25%)
- $4.29 per hour superannuation (calculated at 12%)
