Commercial Finance Manager
Job No:
CA303219205
Location:
Brisbane
As a result of an internal career move, we are seeking an experienced and operationally-focused Commercial Finance Manager to join our Finance team as a trusted business partner to our Supply Chain and Logistics division.
We are more than just a cement manufacturer. We have an extensive distribution and storage asset base that extends across the country. It includes road, rail and shipping networks, terminal storage and an alternative cementitious materials business that is critical to our success. Our Supply Chain and Logistics division enables the success of our broader operations, safely getting the right product, in the right place, at the right time.
Your Opportunity
Cement Australia is a business that is action oriented. This means as Commercial Finance Manager, you will pivot from being hands on in the detail, to strategic commercial decision making and back to deep financial and cost analysis, owning the end to end P&L. Reporting to the CFO and acting as a close partner to the Supply Chain and Logistics Executive, you have a high impact role that opens career progression potential to areas broader than just finance.
Your role will include:
- Strategic Finance and Business Partnering – embedded in the Supply Chain and Logistics leadership team, you will influence decisions, provide insights and translate the numbers to a story that drives profitability.
- Commercial Management – evaluate and provide insights into commercial opportunities, including freight contracts, distribution models, inventory strategies, and supplier negotiations. Optimise cost structures, support pricing decisions and drive continuous improvement.
- Financial Performance & Reporting – own the financial performance of the business unit, delivering accurate reporting, monitoring cost drivers and ensure the appropriate controls and risk management across the supply chain.
- Operational Support & Decision Enablement – provide financial leadership for capital investment proposals, network optimisation and sourcing and other major supply chain projects. Support operational teams with data analytics, cost modelling, and performance dashboards.
- Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement – lead and mentor a small team of Operations Accountants to deliver internal accounting services and further develop their business partnering capability. Influence executive and senior stakeholders through strong communication, commercial acumen, and strategic thinking.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or related field and a recognised accountancy qualification (CPA, Chartered etc)
- Demonstrated career growth in commercial finance, business partnering, or supply chain finance roles including people leadership experience
- Proven ability as a trusted finance business partner with an operational mindset
- Strong financial modelling, analytical, and commercial evaluation skills
- Demonstrated ability to influence executive and senior stakeholders, constructively challenge decisions and drive strategic outcomes
- Strong understanding of logistics operations, cost drivers and supply chain cost analysis
- A continuous improvement approach, with experience in change management and system implementation
- Experience with SAP (or other ERP) and advanced Business Intelligence analytics tools
