About our role- We care about others

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Practitioner to join our School, Student and Family Program (SSFP) team. The Senior Practitioner will provide service delivery to schools and support school counsellors via clinical supervision.

CatholicCare has been committed to providing support to schools, students and families in our Catholic Diocese of Wollongong schools for over 20 years. We serve over 19,000 students across 38 primary and high schools in the Illawarra, Macarthur and Shoalhaven area. As a member of the School, Student and Family Program (SSFP) you will have the opportunity to work systemically with families, provide therapeutic support, deliver workshops to support youth, and teachers.

The successful applicants will be offered a part-time secondment commencing on 29th April and lasting up until the end of December 2024, at which time their effectiveness will be evaluated. The Senior Practitioners will operate across different regions – Macarthur, Southern Highlands, Illawarra and Shoalhaven.

What you will need

  • Degree in Social Work, Social Science, Counselling or Psychology
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience
  • Eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), Clinical Membership with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA), or general registration with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Demonstrated high level experience working with children/adolescents and families
  • Experience / knowledge of clinical supervision frameworks
  • Understanding and commitment to the principles of Catholic education and welfare, the principles of Catholic Social Teaching and the vision, mission, values and strategic plan of CatholicCare.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing counselling, case work and group work to children, adolescents, and families, including the use of strengths-based practice and early intervention strategies
  • Knowledge of current child protection legislation and protocols
  • An unencumbered NSW Working with Children Check and Driver's Licence 
  • Has received two doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine or has been issued with a Medical Contraindication Certificate on the prescribed NSW Health form, exempting from vaccination
