Family Support Worker - Supervised Contact

As a Family Support Worker, you’ll play a vital role in creating safe, supportive and positive experiences for children from separated families. Through strong role modelling, encouragement and relationship‑building, you’ll help children feel secure during contact visits and support families to move forward with confidence.

As a valued member of our Children’s Contact Service (CCS) team, you’ll work closely with families to help them achieve their goals, strengthen relationships and create positive, child‑focused outcomes. Every shift is an opportunity to make an impact where it truly matters.

  • Pay rate: $38.65 per hour + weekend penalty rates
  • Hours per fortnight: 22.8 hours (Friday, Saturday and Sunday)
  • Position type: Maximum Term Part-Time
  • Location: Wollongong

What you bring to the role

  • Tertiary qualifications in welfare, child development, social sciences or related field and/or relevant industry experience
  • Working with Children Check and current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Efficient time management including the ability to prioritise case load
  • In depth understanding of child protection legislation and ability to identify relevant factors indicating a child may be at risk of significant harm
  • Understanding of issues relating to mental health, gambling, drugs and alcohol, family violence, socioeconomic challenges and family separation
