Your Role
Applications are now invited from qualified educators for the position of Kindergarten Assistant to support St Anthony's Catholic Kindergarten, North Rockhampton. This is a term-time contract position for 19 hours per week (5 day fortnight, Monday, Tuesday and alternate Wednesday), commencing from 22 April 2025 until 5 December 2025.
We also have an opportunity at St Joseph's Kindergarten, Park Avenue for 19 hours per week (5 day fortnight, Thursday, Friday and alternate Wednesday). The option to undertake both roles is available for the right candidate. If you would like to be considered for this position also, please contact the Early Learning and Care Manager.
This position reports directly to the Kindergarten Director or person appointed to be responsible for the centre. Other key relationships include children, families and the Early Learning & Care Manager.
As a Kindergarten Assistant you will play a vital role in supporting kindergarten teachers and students in their learning journey. Your responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with classroom activities, including lesson preparation and resource organisation
- Providing one-on-one or small group support to students, including students with additional needs.
- Monitoring student progress and behaviour, providing feedback to teachers
- Assisting with administrative tasks, such as record-keeping and organising educational materials.

About you

A minimum of a Certificate III in Children’s Services or equivalent (ACECQA approved qualifications: https://www.acecqa.gov.au/qualification-requirements) is required.

Mandatory Requirements
- A current valid Blue Card under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 (WWC Act) and valid Suitability Notice is a requirement of the position.
- A minimum Cert III in Children’s Services (or working towards) or equivalent is required. A Diploma in Children’s Services or equivalent (ACECQA approved qualifications) is preferred.
- Hold one of the following Child Protection competencies or willing to obtain:
- CHCPRT025—Identify and report children and young people at risk
- CHCPRT001—Identify and respond to children and young people at risk
- CHCPRT026—Support the rights and safety of children and young people
- CHCPRT002—Support the rights and safety of children and young people
- CHCECE057—Use collaborative practices to uphold child protection principles
- First Aid Certificate, CPR, Anaphylaxis & Asthma Training (ACECQA approved)
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
