Catherine McAuley College opened its doors in 2022, in order to meet the growing demand for a quality, Catholic Education in the Mackay region. Starting with pioneering Year 7’s in 2022, they will grow into a complete Years 7 to 12 profile by 2027.

Your Role
An exciting opportunity exists to join the team at Catherine McAuley College, Mackay, in the position of Pastoral Support Officer. This is a term-time continuing position for 30hpw, commencing from Term 4, 2025 or as negotiated with the successful applicant.
The Pastoral Support Officer is designed to support the pastoral care and student wellbeing programs at the College. As part of your role, you will assist with delivery of programs which aim to promote emotional resilience, positive relationships and a sense of community.
Other duties include:
- Working collaboratively with members of the Welfare Team in monitoring the wellbeing of students.
- Participate in the provision of pastoral care and support of students.
- Assist with the development and facilitation of small group programs at the College.

About you
The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate:
- Tolerance, maturity, patience and a capacity for self-organisation.
- An ability to respond and adapt whilst operating in an environment which is often demanding and busy
- Effective communication skills in order to speak with staff, students, parents, and visitors to the College
- A capacity for tact and discretion and an ability to maintain confidentiality
The successful applicant will hold a Certificate IV in Youth Work or Certificate IV in Pastoral Care or an equivalent qualification (as determined by the College).

Mandatory Requirements
- A current valid Blue Card under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 (WWC Act) and valid Suitability Notice is a requirement of the position.
